Eclectic, mid-century modern auction Saturday in Cranston

Eclectic mid-century modern art glass, lighting, figures, bronzes, fine art, and furniture will highlight the Saturday September 14th auction at Cranston’s Bruneau and Co. Auctioneers. The auction will take place live, in-gallery, and over 8 international online platforms. Telephone and absentee bids can also be made. Items by noted designers are featured from estates throughout New England and the Northeast.

“There is always a special flare when it comes to putting together a specialty auction,” said Bruneau & Co. president Kevin Bruneau. “Modern and contemporary design is a hot category that brings a bunch of funky stuff to the market.”

Travis Landry, a Bruneau & Co. specialist and auctioneer, predicted the auction “is sure to bring modern collectors out of the woodwork, not just in Rhode Island but beyond,” adding, “From being able to offer a Walter Dorwin Teague sled radio and a two-piece Vladimir Kagan sofa and ottoman is an exciting opportunity. It makes auctioneering the sale that much more enjoyable.”

One artwork offered is by former Newport, Rhode Island artist, Alexander Zaklynsky, who now resides in Reykjavik, Iceland, where he actively exhibits and has completed two public commissions, the Journey Monument, Arnastapi and the Sirkus Port. The acrylic aerosol and silver foil on wood stands a dramatic 6 feet tall.

Preview for the auction will be held Thursday and Friday, September 12th-13th, from 9 am-5 pm.

Upcoming auction dates for Bruneau & Co. are:

· Sept. 21 – Comic Books & Toys

· Sept. 26 – DiscoverIt Art, Decor, Furniture & Collectibles

· Sept. 28-29 – Video Game Auction, Retro World Expo, Hartford

· Oct. 5 – Estates Fine Art & Antiques
