The little bit of country will be missed...

The Purple Cat has closed

Quietly, The Purple Cat has closed its doors. Located in Glocester, the venue was truly a nod to New England tradition and a little bit of country. Events held there ranged from networking events, to wine tastings, to a very popular Christmas Village at The Purple Cat.

The Purple Cat offered small batch handcrafted wines, available for tasting and purchasing in the tasting room, and had a bistro featuring a healthy menu with teas, javas, smoothies, and a theatre company presenting performances by local talent rounds out our offerings.

Their commitment to the arts and good music was reflected throughout.

When asked for a comment from the owners about the closing, we received this statement, exclusive to RI News Today, on Thursday night:

“Several factors combined that lead us to the difficult decision to idle the operation. Increasing costs, and the fact that the Cat had failed to turn a profit were some of the reasons. We would like to thank all the patrons who supported us, the town of Glocester for giving us the opportunity,  and the State of Rhode Island for helping guide us along this journey.” - Dan Smiley, The Purple Cat

With all the modern structures and high tech these days, it was nice to see a cozy, high touch kind of place enjoyed by so many.
