...the best part of summer and this is the best part of Rhode Island.
Time to Stroll!
Get your comfy shoes out because this Thursday, you can enjoy an early evening of celebrating the end to the oppressive heat - and the end of torrential rain, too.
Here’s the plan… it’s all about following the sun. First stop…?
The Main Street Stroll in East Greenwich
Rescheduled from last week, and happening this Thursday, July 25th, the Main Street Stroll in East Greenwich will take place from 5-8 pm. It features more than 40 artists and musicians displaying and performing on the sidewalk on Main Street.
This week’s event is part of Main Street Strolls hosted by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce. The “strolls” start in May and feature festive themes, showcasing local artists, musicians, and performers, attracting hundreds of visitors to each event. The strolls also offer a nostalgic shopping experience with shopkeepers staying open late for strollers to enjoy or stay and eat at one of the many dining spots on and around Main Street and the waterfront. Be sure to visit the Main Street Association booth during the stroll for event information and giveaways.
Then you’re off to…
Riverfire offers weekly music on the Saugatucket River off Main Street in Wakefield! Local shops and restaurants are open…come out and stroll with us! Street vendors setup at 5 PM, RiverFire starts at 6 PM with music at a nearby outdoor bistro. Main bands start at 7:30 PM and play until 9:30 PM. Please bring a can or dry good for donations for the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale.
The Wilson Street Band will be Rockin' the River from 7:30 to 9:30. Festivities begin at 5pm with vendors on Main Street, Live Music on the Contemporary Theater Company River Stage, a Lantern Parade with Concrete Couch and #RiverCon. Come wearing your best Super Hero costume and upload a picture with the hashtag #rivercon to enter to win a prize! RiverFire is a free, family-friendly event.
So, it’ll be a big night - and everyone will sleep tight after some wonderful community fun…but save your energy for other weekend events…THIS is the best part of summer and this is the best part of Rhode Island.
