A coffee cup salute!
Frank Coletta - retiring after 41 years at NBC10
Best wishes, Frank Coletta - retiring after 41 years at NBC10
Last night, a video special celebrating 70 years of NBC10 ended in a most surprising way - the sudden and privately held announcement of the retirement of Frank Coletta. In his 41st year with the station, he said it was time, and Patrice Wood, looking duly surprised sitting right next to him had an audible gasp, and continued on with asking him if he would be quahogging full time now. Frank indicated that his first goal was to sleep well past his 2:30am wake up call.
It was his labor of love over several months that resulted in the retrospective look at the 70 years of Channel 10, so we don’t know if it was nostalgia or the time just seemed right - but RINewsToday thinks retiring when you are at the top is a perfect way to say good-bye.
To those of us who may have joined him on the early morning set or looked for places to have just two coffee cups made to promote your charity or event, or in later years, did the Coffee Break live on Facebook feature, Frank’s professionalism, above all will be remembered. And the sparkling eyes, and ever-present smile.
We wish him well - many late morning coffees - and plentiful quahog adventures.

will fill the morning spot? We can’t
even think about that right now - but it will be a major “get” for any news
reporter - as long as they don’t mind the regular 2:30am wake up call.
